Silent Hill: Homecoming unbanned
Konami’s latest game in the Silent Hill franchise based on the survival horror genre has been finally been given the green light to be sold here. Originally being refused a MA 15+ classification for high-impact violence, copious blood spray, decapitations, partial corpse dismemberment, and depictions of torture, The Office of Film and Literature Classification seems to have either loosened up its stance on an appeals review on this game or the game was resubmitted for a second go. Nothing else is mentioned when we should expect it, but hopefully not too long.

Did the board lighten its stance or do you think that it was resubmitted with removal of some of the worst parts of the game which made it banned originally?

Sony cutting costs
The powerhouse in the modern world called Sony is having cash issues just like the rest of the world it seems. According to a report, major divisions and Japanese factories are on the chopping block. This comes after the new that two manufacturing plants over seas will close and 8,000 employees will be made by April of 2010. It was announced that these would help the company structurally and to stay competitive in the market place with no word which areas will be directly affected. On other Sony news, it is almost breaking even on manufacturing costs on the PS3.

Will their be further cuts to any other businesses in the same area due to the current world problems and will their be more rounds of reductions?

New Wet screenies
A new heroine based game called Wet is in the works with the title character called Rubi featured in the game that seems to be full of intense action. You can view the new screenshots and an old trailer here. Originally canned in the middle of last year, this is one title that has not disappeared yet and seems to be kicking on after Activation Blizzard let it go. Developed by AM2 published by Sierra, it is planned for a 2009 PS3 and Xbox 360 release, despite the clip saying 2008

Will this spawn yet another heroine action hero franchise?

Anti piracy legislation written using pirated software
When companies or lawmakers try to extend anti piracy measures prevent rampant piracy, sometimes they need to listen to their own advice. Companies like Microsoft have been caught using pirated products and a Chilean lawyer has done the same. Basically he wrote a proposal for some possible new legislation about people who download pirate software get their internet cut off in Chile. Someone got a copy of the document in electronic form and the rest is history. He was the author, but the organization is “the house,” a well known warez release group, as you can see here. As a way to defuse the situation, he said he didn’t write the legislation or know how his name got on the document. No word yet what has happened to him or if this will be considered being put into law. With that we wish you a happy new year and see you in 2009!

Do you think his net will get cut off? Is this hypocrisy gone mad?

Recession drops gaming prices
If you thought that all was lost in the battle of rising gaming prices, prepared to be shocked. Prices in the USA are around $60 for a game. Some prices have dropped to $35 for the new CoD game, Guitar Hero has also dropped in price and amazingly Mirrors Edge which has just been released is down to 49.95 in the USA. The question on gamers lips is if prices will drop at all in Australia or not.

Do you think game prices will ever drop?
